liminal spaces: escaping the frame
the block, QUT 2013
liminal spaces: escaping the frame presents alternate views informed by the experience of two caves – one in Hungary, the other in Australia. Hybrid blending of the ‘actual’ and 'temporal' invites the audience to travel through the spaces to encounter opposing perspectives.
A synthesis of immense hanging panels, animated videos, light projections and sonic effects reveal an interplay between light and dark, reflection and shadow, positive and negative, still and moving, physical and digital.
Viewers become potential controllers of the space through interactive elements, experiencing altered perceptions that question our usual oppositional logic and assumptions of presence.
